The plays are finished! At the stroke of six, each of the student playwrights e-mailed the final version of their script to Peter and then shuffled out into the parking lot, glassy-eyed and headed for bed. Now, as I'm typing this, the directors of this year's High School 24-Hour Plays are poring over the scripts. No identifying information is included on the scripts, which means that the directors are choosing which plays they are most interested in directing based on the strength of the material—not the reputation of the playwright or the talent of the actors. The plays are intended to speak for themselves.
